USER TESTING

Situation

We needed to carry out design validation for new features in Salesforce. We identified a group of sponsor users to participate, and were using Webex for the research sessions. It was a time-consuming process as we had to sift through the research to extract relevant information and key highlights to present to stakeholders.

Task

When we switched to usertesting.com, I was one of the early users, where I experimented with and learned the basics of the platform while identifying gaps in the app, and trained other team members.

Action

I led extensive user validation for our prototypes, collecting valuable feedback that we can share with stakeholders to enhance the system.

Result

We were able to quickly gather results and streamline the process of generating highlight clips. These clips were shared with product owners, and I played a key role in driving change by helping them redefine what constituted an enhanced selling feature and highlighting potential design pitfalls.

Usertesting.com was also widely used to validate our new designs, which helped us ensure that the design meets user needs, business goals, and technical requirements. Additionally, I was involved in the ongoing licensing of the product.

Situation

Ipreo and IHS Markit did not have an user testing app.

Task

I evaluated using Lookback.io for our user testing purposes as we did not test on a regular basis other than hallway testing.

Action

We started using Lookback.io for general usability and product staff/clients testing for users with domain knowledge. These tests can be conducted remotely, self-guided, or in person. Tests were conducted with a script for specific use cases or workflows, along with A/B tests. We generally end the test with a survey that gives us quantitative as well as qualitative results.

Result

User testing became such a widely adopted practice that in October, 2019, we conducted a User Testing Event where we invited clients to test some of our prototypes in production and conceptual stages using Lookback.io. Focus groups were also conducted to gain qualitative feedback from the clients concerning our products.

Two months prior to the event, I created tutorials on User Testing and Focus Groups for the staff, set up weekly check-ins, internal testing, and practices for the UX staff.
